Finsbury Squirrel
Finsbury Squirrel is busy today collecting acorns so they won’t go hungry this winter. This squirrel uses a fluffy eyelash yarn to make the tail. Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the squirrel and acorns are knitted in DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). The acorn stalk is an i-cord tube worked on the two DPNs.
NEEDLES
A pair each of 3.5mm single pointed knitting needles and DPNs (US 4)
RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; in grey, brown and green.
For the tail, choose a DK eyelash yarn; recommended is King Cole Moments DK, 100% polyester, in shade Silver.
NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, beads and white felt scraps for eyes.
SIZES
One size only - 16cm tall (seated).
TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
