Here are a couple of mice you will want to have in the house! Children and animals alike will adore Darlene Hayes’s cleverly constructed mice.

About 200 yards worsted weight wool will make two mice, approximately 5” - 6” long. Sizes will vary depending upon yarn used. Suggested yarns were La Lana Romney handspun in gray, or La Lana Silver Streak Millspun in natural white with gray stripe, one skein for each. However, any worsted weight animal fiber will work for this project.

From the book: “While an accurate gauge rules when knitting most items, in the case of these felted mice, gauge is not as critical. It is more important that the knitted fabric be fairly open so that the fibers can move around during the felting process.”

Additional materials: US size G (4mm) crochet hook, small amounts of fiberfill, black embroidery floss, small black pom-poms for eyes and hose, tapestry needle.
