February Crochet Scarf
For February I designed a stash busting scarf. I found a fair amount of aran weight yarn in my stash and decided the best use would be a motif. So I designed a square in 2 colours, one for the first 2 rounds which forms a flower shape and a second for the last 2 rounds which square it off.
The yarn makes it wonderfully warm and the colours are bright – perfect to keep you warm and bring on thoughts of spring during the last weeks of winter!
The motif is fairly quick to make, especially in aran weight yarn, and uses only the basic crochet stitches. Provided you can work in the round, you will find this a straightforward project.
Of course, the motif could also be used in any project - it would be perfect in a blanket.
The scarf is made from 28 of the motifs (14 long by 2 wide) and I used a total of 14 colours randomly, using about 310g/460m of yarn. The finished size is approx. 175cm by 25 cm (70” by 10”). But it can be made to any size with any combination of colours.
It was designed using aran weight yarn but can be used in any weight of yarn provided you use a suitable hook.
Instructions are provided in English and US crochet terms, and the motif is charted.
