Featherlight Lace Poncho
A lacy knitted shoulder poncho, or “ponchette” for summer, designed for knitters with Intermediate skills. The soft, breathable cotton yarn, and open lace fabric make it the perfect wrap for soft summer afternoons and evenings.
Simple lace pattern, knitted from a chart, is worked as a flat rectangle, with in i-cord edge on the side that will form the finished edge, and a slipped stitch selvedge on the side that will include the seam. When complete, two sides of the rectangle are sewn together, leaving the neckline open.
Wet Blocking the rectangle before seaming is recommended, for adjusting the dimensions of the lace fabric; and then a final block of the finished garment improves drape.
Whether you wear it with point in front, back, or over one shoulder, this accessory is sure to become a favorite.
