Fairy Dust
The garland and corsage can be made to fit anyone, just ensure the starting chain for the band is long enough to go comfortably around their head or wrist. Use the yarns held together for a more organic look.
Play with colour and make the flowers and leaves whatever colours you like! Tonal versions would be pretty or go wild using odds and ends from your stash for a technicolor look.
The pattern for the wings is more of a guide rather than specific instructions, because stitch numbers and motif quantities will vary according to the size and shape you make for the wire frames. This is also a great pattern for using up leftovers from your stash, so you can play with what you have and adjust the size accordingly.
You will need:
-
Small quantities of DK yarn in
Yarn A Bright Green
Yarn B Dark Green
Yarn C Light Green
Yarn D Yellow
Yarn E Pink
Yarn F Peach
Yarn G White
-
For the wings, small quantities of white yarn in various weights including novelty yarns, and metallic thread.
-
A 4mm (US G/6) hook
-
A 5.5 (US I/9) hook (for frame of wings only)
-
Two wire coat hangers
-
Wire cutters
-
Duct tape or similar strong tape
-
Tapestry needle
-
2m (2 1/2yds) white ribbon
Tension is not critical but adjust the hook size to produce a firm fabric.
