Fabulous Fair Isle
From Introduction:
“The Fair Isle technique of coloured Knitting is used to make this purse; traditional motifs are reworked in soft blues and a metalllic green. The bag is mounted onto a decorative silver frame which snaps closed and has tabs for a twisted cord handle or chain. This is a distinguished-looking purse that is worth spending some time and care over. The pattern has the look of old-fashioned tapestries, while the addition of the silver frame gives the purse an elegant vintage feel.”
The book shows two variations one blue with a purse frame, one red without a frame and with beaded handles.
Yarns given are for the blue version. The red version uses Rowan Handknit Cotton, Summer Tweed and Cotton Glace, Debbie Bliss Cotton DK, and Twilley’s Goldfingering metallic for the pattern.
The purse frame is about 6in (15 cm); the other option (red-orange version) uses lining fabric 9.75in (24.5cm) x 18.5in (47cm) and a beaded handle.
Measurement: 8.5 in (21.5cm)long 6.5in (16.5) cm wide at top and 8 in (20.5 cm) at base.
