This design began when I fell in love with this stitch pattern. I loved how the squishy garter stitch is broken up by the vertical diamond aesthetic. As I swatched and played with making the diamond pattern just right, I simplified it so every wrong-side row is easily purled all the way across. From there, the shape of the sweater became comfortable and flattering, with set-in sleeve shaping. It’s worked seamlessly from the bottom up with a sort of upside-down contiguous yoke construction.
