Long ears are the first thing associated with rabbits, but no other breed comes anywhere near the English lop: the Guinness record holder had a 79 cm/over 31” span from ear tip to ear tip. Beside the ear size, the pattern contains realistic body shaping: this is a ‘semi-arched’ breed with straight shoulders and a rise only over the back and hips, rather than an evenly curved body.

Size
About 20 cm (8”) long with 33 cm (13”) ear span, if made with DK yarn

Tools and materials
~ yarn in any bunny-appropriate coat color and (optionally, for a contrast color tail) in white, cream or other pale color
~ crochet hook: 3mm (approx. US size C) if using DK yarn; or size that gives you a tight, no-gaps fabric
~ black plastic eyes: 11mm for DK yarn (preferably sew-on type)
~ if using sew-on eyes, dental floss or strong thread to attach them
~ embroidery floss in pink or other contrasting color, and a large, sharp point embroidery needle
~ fiberfill stuffing
~ stitch marker, pair of scissors, yarn needle, pins
~ optionally, a small piece of Velcro to fluff up the tail

Difficulty
This pattern is suitable for intermediate level crocheters who are confident with basic stitches (ch, sl st, sc) and frequently used amigurumi techniques (magic ring, invisible decrease).

The pattern is written in English using US crochet terminology (UK/Aus equivalents provided). It contains many in-progress photos, but also includes a text-only appendix for easy printing, if you prefer working from a printed pattern but want to save ink and paper.
