Here is an easy way to add beautiful beads to your knitting.
While knitting my Straightforward Stripes pattern, I was inspired to knit another cowl with the same stitch pattern and add beads. I hope you enjoy it!

Materials
Two Skeins of Malabrigo, Rios. Gauge is 4 sts./in. before blocking. Pictured is #850 Archangel. When I see this color, I think of Emily☺
Size 9 circular needles, 24” length. Stitch Marker. Yarn needle.
The cowl is 6” deep x 50” in circumference before blocking.
After wet blocking, the cowl measures 6” deep x 62” in circumference.
Gauge is 3 sts./in. after wet blocking.

Beads
You must use uniform and smooth beads. I recommend TOHO brand because they have the largest holes and are very yarn friendly. They will also string onto light worsted weight.
782 TOHO 6/0 round seed beads were used in this project. Purchase 60 grams.
Dental floss threader. Beading surface. Beads are available at many of the LYSs and online at: http://www.bobbybead.com

I met Emily a few years ago and taught classes at her shop. She is smart, funny, kind, wise beyond her years, an artist and a great collaborator, among other wonderful gifts. It was recently her birthday and I wanted to name a pattern after her, in appreciation of our friendship. I chose this Malabrigo color way in particular because they were “Emily” colors. We share an enthusiasm for knitting with beads, and they are added to this design. I hope you will enjoy the pattern for Emily’s Cowl.
