Ellery
Ellery is a modern take on a classic silhouette. It is supremely flattering with a low scoop neck and gentle hourglass shape, while the large, textured cowl keeps you warm and cozy.
Construction
Ellery is worked seamlessly from the top down. First, stitches are cast on separately for each of the back shoulders, then the shoulders are joined and the back is worked to the underarms. These stitches are placed on hold while the front is worked. The stitches for the front shoulders are picked up from the original cast on rows and worked down on each side. Gradual increases form the scoop neck. Then stitches are cast on to join the fronts. The front is worked to the underarms, then stitches are cast on under the arms and the front and back are joined and worked in the round to the hem, with princess seam shaping. Sleeve stitches are picked up around the armholes and sleeve caps are shaped with short rows, then the sleeve is worked down to the wrist. Lastly, stitches are picked up around the neck opening for the cowl. The cowl is shaped with needle changes instead of increases to maintain the pattern and give the most flattering shape.
