Electric Ocean
The Story
I’m constantly fascinated by the creatures of the deepest ocean. Their chemical makeup allows them to glow bright greens, blues, aquas and even pinks and reds. While I’ll likely never have a chance to see these creatures in real life I can pay homage with my knitting.
Not only do the colors in this shawl remind me of the vivid bioluminescence of the deep sea creatures, but the structure of the lace work makes me think of the fossilized crustaceans buried deep, deep down in the electric ocean!

Notes
-
This shawl is knit in garter stitch, is constructed in a crescent shape and worked flat. Written instructions and charts are provided for all sections after the setup. Charted instructions are found on page 4.
-
Pattern repeats on the charts are indicated by a red-border; repeats in the written instructions are enclosed in bolded square brackets.
-
This shawl best fits a 40” circular needle however the user may substitute longer or shorter needles for comfort.
-
It is recommended to clip a removable stitch marker to the RS of the work to differentiate from the WS as this is a garter knit shawl.
-
Although gauge is not critical for this project, a looser gauge than noted will result in the use of more yardage.
