After I chose the colors for this two-color, yoked sweater, I noticed that both were named for delicious foods: kale and butternut. I also think the sweater itself would be quite delicious no matter what colors one chooses, so I named it “El Delicioso,” which is Spanish for “the delicious one.”

I have been experimenting with modified yoked patterns that shape the sleeve caps as if they have the architecture of set-in sleeves. The sleeve caps are shaped by strategically placing increases on the caps to create the bell shape while removing stitches from the body to achieve the proper fit there. The stitches separating the sleeve caps from the front and back sections became good points to break the repeat patterns in four places around the yoke. I carried the caps up to the neckline, like saddle shoulders, and filled the area with a contrasting pattern to the patterns on the front and back. This faux seam at these breakpoints is then highlighted by always working one stitch in the main color and slipping that stitch every other round.
