Einar Mitts
Designed to go alongside my Einar Hat (only available in the Shetland Wool Week annual until 2019) these mitts use a small repeating motif with seeding on the palms to ensure no fingers get caught! Half fingers keep you warm but still keep your fingers free.
Materials
Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight (4ply weight /fingering; 100% Real Shetland Wool; 115m; 25g balls)
Yarn A: Shade 54; 2 x 25g balls
Yarn B: Shade 32; 1 x 25g ball
Yarn C: Shade 1281; 1 x 25g ball
Yarn D: Shade FC43; 1 x 25g ball
One set 2.5mm double-pointed needles (DPNs) or needles suitable for your preferred method of small circumference knitting
One set 3.00mm double-pointed needles (DPNs) or needles suitable for your preferred method of
small circumference knitting
2 lengths of smooth waste yarn for afterthought thumb placement
2 stitch holders or longer lengths of smooth waste yarn
Size
One size, to fit small/medium adult hands with a circumference of 7/7.5 inches.
Tension
32sts and 36 rounds to 4 ins over chart patterns using 3.00mm needles, after washing and blocking.
Special techniques
These Mitts use the afterthought thumb technique.
