I love a cozy, lofty shawl. Something big and soft and airy than can be tossed on or off as temperature dictates.

Edradour was my travel project for my trip to Scotland this spring - and it was the perfect travel companion! The pattern is much simpler than it looks, and it was great for picking up and putting down, knitting in pubs and working on while talking to friends. It’s fast and satisfying and intuitive, and just a little bit addictive.

In keeping with Jill Draper’s focus on tradition and sourcing her yarns with sheep from local farms, I decided to take a suggestion from jarmeblue and name this one for the Edradour distillery, in Scotland, which like Jill herself, is committed to keeping authentic small scale production alive today.

To create the shawl, I worked her sport weight Mohonk Cormo on #8 needles for a light and airy fabric. Simple lace motifs are worked at the beginning and end of each row, and increases are worked along the center panel. It’s soothing, easy knitting with soft, gorgeous yarn.

This one will be my go-to wrap for summer, in this gorgeous pale blue color, with an acid greeny-yellow accent. For Fall, I’ve already begun a more wintry feeling one in a deep green, with a little gray accent. Because I need two of these.

My stripes came from stash, but Jill has put together some kits with 2 skeins of a main color and a little mini-skein of an accent. They will be available in her Etsy Shop as long as the supply lasts! You can also find Mohonk at any of the local yarn shops that stock Jill’s yarns…..
