Eccentric Concentric
Thanks to variegated yarns with gradual or frequent color changes, those aren’t run-of-the-mill concentric stripes on this slouchy beanie. A chunky, head-hugging ribbing – with optional trim in self-striping or self-patterning yarn – provides a colorful finishing touch.
This fun crochet pattern for women and men combines solid and self-patterning or self-striping yarns for one-of-a-kind hats. Print yarns form blocks of color. Self-striping yarns work into eccentric bands that abruptly change color where the rounds join.
It’s worked from the top down in joined rounds.
The pattern offers four adult sizes: Small, Medium, Large and Extra Large with head circumferences of 21, 22, 23, 24 in./53, 56, 58, 61 cm. It’s rated intermediate for its post-stitch ribbing.

The Eccentric Concentric slouchy uses worsted weight yarn. Gauge is 12 dc = 4 in./10 cm.
The contrasting color (CC) yarn can be any self-striping or self-patterning yarn, with long or short color changes.
Although this pattern is designed to showcase variegated yarns, the CC yarn may also be a solid color.
