This simple heart knitting pattern is worked from the bottom up. You can use whatever yarn you have on hand and knitting needles a size or two smaller than you might normally use with that yarn to make a firm fabric.

Gauge is not critical and your heart’s size will vary. Mine range from 3.5 inches wide and 3 inches tall (8.9 by 7.6 cm) to 4 by 4 inches/10 by 10 cm.

You can use whatever increase method you like, or make several using different options like I did so you can see the difference between different increase methods in your projects.
