Easter chickens Norwegian style
My EASTER CHICKENS are inspired by Norwegian craft traditions. They each have patterns from different regions of Norway.
The bodies are knitted in the round.
Comb, eyes and beak are embroidered.
If you’re not too familiar with stranded knit, you might work them in one single color.
One chicken only requires a small amount of yarn, so this is a perfect project for your yarn leftovers.
SIZES
One size
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Height 4” / 10 cm
Circumference 6.75” / 17 cm
YARN
Yarn leftovers yardage approx 120 yds/ 110 m per 50 g
Choose the colors you prefer. I’ve used black/white, grey/light grey and light blue/blue for the bodies - and red, orange, white and black for the embroidered details (eyes, beak and comb)
TIP! You might otherwise use yarn of any yardage – but size of the chicken will change if you work in a different yardage than specified.
The needle size should be lower than recommended for your yarn, to get a tight knitting, so the stuffing won’t show through the stitches.
OBS! Det blir lagt til 25% MVA for mønsterkjøpere i Norge
