IF USING WIRE - THIS IS NOT A TOY
This Dragon is written using #10 thread but can be completed with 4 ply medium weight yarn. Adjust wire to 16 gauge when using yarn.
THREAD VERSION
Supplies:
2/2.25 mm Hook
1 ball #10 Crochet Thread (Main Color)
White #10 Crochet Thread for teeth
Contrast #10 Crochet Thread (trim top of wings)
19 Gauge 1.0 mm Wire – could vary slightly depending on crochet tension
Body: (1) 24”
Legs: (1 - front) 15” (1 – back) 17”
Wings: (1) 24”
PolyFill Stuffing – stuff as you proceed
Beads
Eyes (2)
Nostrils (2)
Nail Polish – clear for stiffening teeth and nails
Tapestry Needle – for sewing
Pliers/Wire Cutters – for cutting wire and bending over ends
Stitch Markers
Straw/chop sticks – recommended to keep legs
open when working them
Stitches and Terms:
Chain (ch)
Single Crochet (sc)
Half Double Crochet (hdc)
Double Crochet (dc)
Slip Stitch (sl st)
Space (sp)
Increase (Inc) 2 stitches same space
Decrease (Dec) complete 2 spaces as one – start stitch
in 2 spaces, complete as 1 stitch reducing stitch count
by 1 space
Short Row – complete number of stitches, slip stitch next
marker space, turn. Work short row between markers
(if noted sc to get to correct starting point)
Sc # = how many spaces to sc in
#Sc = how many sc in next space
Front Loop Only (FLO)
Back Loop Only (BLO)
Both Loops (Both)
Size: Nose to tip of tail: 24” approximately
Height: 9” crouching position
(not including display stand)
NOTE: Crochet stitches from inside to outside of dragon,
continuous rounds, both loops unless stated differently.
Markers are used to show changes easier – move
markers up each row as needed for clarification
