Dyer Island
Many of you know that my labrador, Ash, is in critical care as I launch this pattern. I will be donating 100% of the proceeds from this pattern to Animal Emergency and Specialty Care of Portland Maine, to thank all the people there who have tirelessly cared for our dear boy!
Inspired by a 2 sweaters that my mother’s best friend knit for her in the 1960’s, DYER ISLAND (the island where my mother had her summer house in Maine) is an everyday, classic cardigan with pockets and clean lines. It is fittingly knit in a locally sourced and naturally dyed yarn from animals raised on Wing and a Prayer Farm in upstate NY, this is my perfect Rhinebeck 2018 Sweater.
This is a take off of my vest pattern summer fog. Translated to a long-sleeves sweater, I trimmed the ease to 4”/10cm and I added pockets on both the right and left FRONTS. The Broken Rib was inspired by the 2 sweaters that my mother’s best friend knit and that my mother wore into her 90’s. The yarn from those sweaters was Maine raised and dyed, so it was fitting to me to use the Wing & A Prayer Farm Taconic Twist for this sweater.
