Druid Cowl
An easy to work leaf lace stitch is the center of this cowl. The slipped stitch cable borders echo the diagonal lines of the lace. After a provisional cast on, the cowl is worked back and forth in rows. The cowl is then seamed using kitchener stich creating a loop with no itchy seams. Shown in a gradient dyed yarn. Try a tonal yarn or a solid color to best show off the stitch pattern.
Finished measurements: 5 ¼” (13 cm) by 45” (114 cm), blocked.
MATERIALS:
Needles: US size 6 / 4 mm circular needle
US G-6 or 4mm crochet hook
Notions: 2 stitch markers, smooth scrap yarn for provisional cast on, tapestry needle.
Suggested yarn: 1 skein of One Room Fibers Merino DK, 231 yds, 100 grams (100% Superwash Merino).
When substituting yarn, please choose an elastic yarn, such as wool or a wool blend.
Yardage: 231 yards. Note on yardage: the cowl was designed to use all of the skein, and does not include any extra yardage for safety. Do not cut yarn after swatching, unravel the swatch and begin with that to use all of the yarn, or use two skeins.
Gauge is not critical, but if you don’t have the gauge given, you may not be able to knit as many repeats.
