Drift Lines
This geometrically pleasing shoulder shawl reminds me of the echoing foam and seaweed lines waves leave upon beach sand. It has an extra section perfect for providing a double layer over your chest or making a graceful collar and lapel.
The stitching is easy and great for tv knitting with plenty of room for
creativity or stash busting through color choice. The seven wedges form a greater than 360 degree capelet that is infinitely variable in size and colorway, all depending on your yarn choice and available
amount.
Yarn: For the sample shawl in the photographs, I used two 110-yard skeins of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Tweed in each of the following six colorways : Thirst , Flagstone, Sequoia, Down, Lost Lake and Prussian Heather. Other variations including using scrap yarn are in the instructions.
Tools: #7 (4.5 mm) 32 inch long or greater circular knitting needles (or needle size appropriate for
your yarn choice), 6 st markers
Gauge: 4.5 sts and 8 rows (4 ridges) per inch in garter stitch. Gauge is not important provided your
yarn/needle combination produces a solid yet fluid fabric, but a vastly different gauge may need more
or less yarn.
