First pattern in the Châles Fanstastiques collection, the Dragon shawl is super easy to knit - all garter! - but never boring thanks to the short row shaping. Cherry on the cake : no purling required. At all!

To knit your Dragon you will need two skeins of fingering weight yarn; one for your main color and the equivalent of another one for the contrasting color(s): between one and ten depending on your mood! It’s the perfect pattern for those colorful mini-skein kits out there.

You can also customize your shawl further by choosing how many fins you want to add to the border, or whether your dragon shall have a tail like mine, or not… You’ll find detailed instructions to do so in the pattern as well as my ever popular chart of stitch count per row, making it super easy to always know if you’re on track.

Note on gauge: I do not give any gauge for this pattern as I think the best way to check if you will have enough yarn is by weighing what’s left of your CC once you’ve knit the first wedge. More information is given in the pattern on this subject.

Premier châle de la collection Châles Fantastiques, ce Dragon est un bonheur à tricoter, facile car tout au point mousse mais pas lassant grâce aux rangs raccourcis… pas le temps de s’ennuyer! Cerise sur le gâteau: pas une seule maille envers!

Pour tricoter ce châle il vous faudra deux écheveaux de laine à chaussette (fingering); un pour la couleur principale et l’équivalent d’un autre pour la ou les couleurs contrastantes: vous pouvez en associer jusqu’à 10 à votre couleur principale! C’est LE modèle parfait pour les kits de mini-écheveaux.

Vous pouvez également personnaliser votre Dragon en décidant du nombre d’ailerons que vous souhaitez ajouter à la bordure, ou si vous souhaitez qu’il ait une queue comme le mien ou pas… Vous trouverez dans le modèle des instructions détaillée pour vous permettre de faire tout ça, ainsi que le tableau que j’inclue toujours dans mes modèles: le tableau du nombre de mailles par rang, qui vous permet de toujours savoir où vous en êtes.

Note sur l’échantillon (gauge):Je ne donne pas la taille de l’échantillon pour ce modèle car afin de déterminer si vous aurez assez de laine, je vous propose la méthode de la pesée : commencez le châle directement sans tricoter d’échantillon avec la taille d’aiguille recommandée et votre laine fingering mais arrêtez-vous au premier triangle.
