Dinna Fash
Dinna fash yersel’ means “don’t worry!” or “don’t trouble yourself” in Scots and is most commonly heard in the northeast of Scotland, where the local dialect is Doric.
It’s a perfect phrase to remember while you’re working on your cowl. The pattern repeat is easy to memorise, and you can make this cowl as long or short as you’d like to. You could use as many colours as you can fit into the project or work the whole cowl in a single colour.
Dinna fash, it’ll ay be bonnie when it’s done!! (don’t worry, it’ll always be beautiful when it’s finished!)
You’ll start knitting at the bottom edge and work up through all of the basketweave stripes. Once you reach the top, you’ll change to your lining colour and work through to the cast off edge. When you’re all done, just tuck the lining inside leaving as much contrast colour showing at the top as you feel like in the moment!

NOTES
The inside of this cowl is slightly shorter than the outside to allow it to sit snuggly against your neck without distorting the outside pattern. You may, of course, knit the inside and outside to the same length, as this is your masterpiece!
Likewise, the pattern is written using CC1 as the colour for the inside lining, but you should use whichever colour you choose. This is your project, let your imagination and colours flow!
