Welcome to the Cast-On-Along in the LittleGreenDragon group. I will help with videos of any tricky bits you run in to, just post in the thread!
Difficulty
Adventurous beginner. Both complete charts with standard symbols and row-by-row written pattern given. US crochet terms used.
Only magic loop, chain, single crochet, double crochet, treble crochet and slip stitch used. No crossed stitches or through front/back loop or front/back posts or other advanced stitches.
Yarn
You will need 2 skeins of Zauberwiese Ayana Silk (Sea Silk) fingering. Shown in the colourway Zärtliche Begegnung.
This yarn is exceptionally well suited for crochet and for beginners. It has a firm twist meaning it isn’t splitty and it will hold up to a lot of ripping out and redoing without losing its sheen and good looks.
If substituting yarn, choose a fingering weight silk or silk blend for similar results. 800 m/875 yards needed. Yardage (and hook size) may vary if substituting yarn. Testers used up to 950 m/1035 yards.
Construction
You will begin with just a few sts at center back and work out from there, working back and forth in rows. The shawl is fully reversible.
Size (one size only)
58 cm/23 inches down center back, 160 cm/63 inches wingspan. 57 rows.
If you want to change the size, change hook size and use heavier or lighter weight yarn.
Hook
4 mm or size G.
