This is a quick and basic hat pattern. I have made i in several yarns, but the Nadeshiko hat is the nicest and warmest.

it is NOT hard to make, you should be able to pick-up stitches and work in the round. -also, manipulate stitches on the needle for the diagonal rib, I recommend to TRY IT- and if you are stuck, ask you LYS for help!
