This pattern is suitable for all yarns with a color gradient. Noro Silk GardenSock, Lana Grossa Magico, Katia Olé Socks Viento, Zauberball, Chroma from Knitpicks, Mini Mochi, Jojoland, even Noro Silk Garden lite. The width of the scarf will equal about the width of 68 st of the yarn you choose.
It is a reversible scarf that will look the same on both sides.
Also it is the perfect project to use remnants of self patterning sock yarn. Most socks will bequeath you about 35 g of yarn, which is just the amount you will need for one square.
