Dancing on Water is a lovely mash-up of my Dancing with Bears shawl construction combined with my own Water Hyacinth stitch pattern.

The lace pattern is a pleasure to knit, with lace stitches worked on right sides only. And the short-row shaped crescent is a cinch; no wraps or anything at all to fuss with.

You are going to love knitting and wearing this shawl!

Pattern Info:

Construction: Shawl begins with a picot cast-on for the lace border and is worked flat (lots of stitches, not so many rows). Short rows shape the garter-stitch crescent.
The long shawl edge is finished with a pretty attached I-cord.

3 Sizes: S (M, L) measuring 19 (21, 23)“ deep at mid back by 75 (81, 87)” long from tip to tip across the top.
Shown in size M.

Yarn: Sunday Knits 3 ply (light sport weight) in Angelic (75% merino 25% angora), Nirvana (90% merino 10% cashmere), Eden (100% merino) or Brigadoon (100% merino tweed); 225 m / 246 yd per 50 g / 13⁄4 oz skein: 4 (5, 6) skeins.
Shown in Nirvana Turmeric.

Kits available at sundayknits.com.

Dancing on Water can also be made using a thinner or thicker yarn; use a needle size that creates the desired fabric and work a smaller or larger size to compensate for the difference in gauge.
690 (920, 1090) yds.

Gauge: 18 sts and 36 rows = 4” in garter stitch.

Needles: Size US 6 (4 mm) for garter, 7 (4.5 mm) for border and bind off, and 8 (5 mm) for cast on only. Circular needles may be needed to accommodate the large number of stitches: 325 (373, 421) sts on longest row.

Notions: Stitch markers.

Skills needed: Picot cast on (explained), lace knitting (lace sts worked on RS only).

Pattern includes: Written instructions, border stitch pattern in both written and charted formats, schematic.
