Cumberland
Cumberland is an asymmetrical triangle shawl, knitted sideways, combining garter stitch stripes and an easy to memorize lace pattern. Worked at a loose gauge to create a nice drape, Cumberland is a perfect all-weather shawl. And for those knit stitch lovers, there’s not a single purl stitch in the whole shawl!
Cumberland is knit with Delly’s Delights O So Soft yarn. 100% Alpaca and soft as it’s name! Delly’s Delights is a farm and yarn dying operation in Louisa, Virginia. Cumberland is named for the Cumberland Mountain Range - a mountain range in the Appalachian Mountains a few hours south of Louisa.
One size: 46 inches wide x 18 inches deep
Suggested Yarn: 2 skeins of Delly’s Delights Oh So Soft 100% Alpaca sport weight (650 yards/225 grams) one skein each of colors silver and dark grey or 450 yards of main color and 300 yards of
contrasting color
Suggested needles: US 7 (4.5mm) 40” circular needle
Gauge: 18 stitches x 40 rows = 4 inches in garter stitch, after blocking
Gauge is not crucial to this design, but please remember if your gauge is much different, you will end up with a different sized shawl, and it may affect the yardage you need
