This fun afghan square was designed for the 2015 Mystery Lapghan CAL.
The name for this square came from my mother. I knew I wanted either “Granny” or a form of ‘four’ to be in the title, but I couldn’t quite think of anything I liked. When my mother came out for some coffee, I hopped over to the kitchen counter and started bouncing ideas off of her. She wasn’t really into any of mine, but did come up with Cuatro Esquinas, which is Spanish for Four Corners. I said, “Okay, the Cuatro Esquinas Granny Square”, and she suggested “Cuatro Esquinas de Abuela”, which translates to “Four Corners of Grandma”. Hehe! Very unique, and creative - Love it! Hope you do too.
Materials:
- Very small amounts of five colors of worsted weight yarn - I used Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Yarn in Red, Grape, Jelly Bean (Green), Hot Rose and White
- I9/5.5mm Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle - I used a #18
Material Notes:
Yarn Alternatives similar to I Love This Yarn: Red Heart’s With Love, Berroco’s Vintage.
You could easily work this up in two colors (one for squares, and one for join and edge), or three (one each for two squares and one for the join and edge).
Time Spent:
I was able to work up this square in just under 25 minutes.
Abbreviations:
SC - Single Crochet
DC - Double Crochet
