Cruden
A traditional Fair Isle vest worked from the bottom up entirely in the round. The neck and armholes are steeked and the front shoulders are worked slightly longer than the back to both drop the back neckline for a better fit and to allow the stitch patterns to flow over the shoulder. Detailed instructions for finishing the steeks with crochet are provided. After cutting the steeks open stitches are picked up around the armholes and neck and ribbed bands are worked in one of the contrast colours for a slightly sporty detail.
The colourwork is simple but effective alternating a smaller and larger motif, the larger of which is offset on alternate repeats. Seven colours are used to shade the patterns but the number used can be varied. A colour in chart and quick reference palette are included for planning your own combinations, I recommend using a more vibrant or unexpected colour at the centre of the larger motifs.
See information images for detailed measurements, yarn colours and yardage.
