The catchy cross and diamond pattern became a focal point of this modern cowl. If you are new to mosaic stitch, this could be a project to start! The mosaic motifs and stripes in 3 colors will make this project a quick and fun one.

Yarn
DK weight yarn in 3 colors, approximately 190 yds of each color.

Color A: 1 skein of Sweet Georgia Yarns Superwash DK (100% Superwash Merino, 256 yds/234 m in 4 oz/115 gr); Nightshade (navy).

Color B: 1 skein of Sweet Georgia Yarns Superwash DK (100% Superwash Merino, 256 yds/234 m in 4 oz/115 gr); Ginger (orange).

Color C: 1 skein of Sweet Georgia Yarns Superwash DK (100% Superwash Merino, 256 yds/234 m in 4 oz/115 gr); Birch (light grey).

Needles
Size US 6 (4 mm) circular needles 24-32”/60-80 cm long, or size to obtain gauge.
(Optional) Size US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles 24-
32”/60-80 cm long.
While gauge is not critical for this project, a different gauge can affect the size and overall yardage needed.

Additional tools
Tapestry needle, waste yarn, crochet hook for Provisional CO.

Gauge
20 stitches and 32 rows = 4” (10 cm) on size US 6 (4 mm) needles in Garter Stitch, after blocking.

Notes
• The cowl is worked flat from a provisional cast-on and grafted to join the ends.
• Note that most knitters will require a different needle size to obtain the same gauge in single color as in colorwork. Use larger needle for mosaic stitch if needed.

Pattern Style: both written and charted instructions using common knitting abbreviations. Mosaic pattern is charted only.

Pattern includes photo tutorial on how to read mosaic chart.
