crochet hooks—size I/9 (5-1/2mm) or size needed to obtain correct gauge and size H/8 (5mm) or one size smaller than larger hook
size 13 tapestry needle
six 1/2-inch apple-shaped novelty buttons (see note)
hand-sewing needle
blue all-purpose thread
