For this sock pattern, named after
Bridget Riley’s work, the lines are
formed by a ribbing pattern of twisted
stitches (1 X 1 cables) and purled stitches comprised of an intriguing arrangement of tiny
cables. A vertical mirrored pattern
for right and left socks accentuates
the flicker effect. Moreover, the
socks look different, depending on the
direction from which you view them.
Sizes: About 7” (18 cm) foot circumference for both sizes, unstretched, and 9¼ (9¾)“ (23.5 25 cm) foot length from back of heel to tip of toe (length is adjustable). To fit U.S. women’s shoe sizes 7–8 (9–10); European shoe sizes 38–40 (41–42).
