This elegant stole is a combination of slipped stitch colorwork and Estonian Lace techniques producing color-work lace. You are only ever working with one strand of yarn at a time, knitting stripes and slipping stitches.
The way the slipped stitches interact with the increases and decreases of the lacework creates the intricate color patterning.

The shawl was originally knit in Shiruku in the colors Helen of Troy and Cygnus (rich brown and cream version) which has been discontinued. A new sample was created in Woodbury in the colors Slate and Denim (gray & blue version). You will need 2 skeins of each color and the pattern uses approximately 1,200 yards divided between the two colors.

Skills needed: provisional cast on, chart reading, simple and complex decreases, single and double YO. There are decreases in this pattern that were created specifically to manipulate the colorwork into the correct sequence - these are explained in the pattern.

You must be able to read charts to work this pattern.
