If the mountains call your name, you must answer! This sweater is worked from the top down seamlessly with a circular yoke. A bit of stranded colorwork keeps the yoke interesting while plain Stockinette stitch ensures a simple body. Colorwork is resumed on the lower sleeve to balance out the design. All in all, this is a pretty simple knit.

Purchasing this design gives you 2 separate patterns - one for the smaller sizes (“Coulter for Babies”, sizes 3 mo - 3T) and one for the larger sizes (“Coulter for Littles”, sizes 4T - 16 years).

Kid sizes: 4 years (5 years, 6 years, 8 years) (10 years, 12 years, 14 years, 16 years) to fit a chest measuring 23” (24”, 25”, 26.5”) (28”, 30”, 31.5”, 32.5”) inch/58.5 (61, 63.5, 67.5) (71, 76, 80, 82.5) cm chest, with 2”/5 cm of positive ease (for room to grow).

Yarn:
Baby sizes yardage: 125 (175, 225, 275) (325, 375, 425) yards/125 (175, 200, 250) (300, 350, 375) meters of sock weight yarn total; about 80% in the main color and about 4% in each contrast color.

Kid sizes yardage: 475 (550, 650, 750) (875, 1000, 1125, 1250) yards/450 (500, 600, 700) (800, 925, 1025, 1150) meters of sock weight yarn total; about 80% in the main color and about 4% in each of the contrast colors.

Needles: Size US 3/3.25 mm and size US 4/3.5 mm circular needles with a long (40”/100 cm) cable, or size needed to obtain gauge and one size smaller.

Gauge: 22 stitches and 30 rows = 4”/10 cm in Stockinette stitch on larger needles.

Notions: 11 - 17 stitch markers, blocking mat, wires (optional), and t-pins.

Techniques: Knitting in the round, chart reading, basic increases and decreases.
