Corseted Mitts
Elegant yet edgy… Victorian but still kinda punk…
Corseted Mitts are a stylish and versatile answer to the first
chilly days of fall. Seamlessly knit in the round from worsted
to aran weight yarn, they are finished and ready to wear
before you know it. Pattern is simple enough for a beginner
and offers two sizes to fit most any hands. Written and charted instructions are provided as well as detailed help with finishing.
Finished Measurements + Fit
Mitts are intended to be a snug fit on a circumference of up to about: 7½ (9½)”
Materials
Yarn: In worsted to aran weight yarn you will need approximately 100 (110) yards or 90 (100) meters.
Needles: Double pointed needles (or needles appropriate for your preferred method of small circumference circular knitting) in US sizes 6 (4mm) for a SM/MD or 7 (4.5mm) for a size MD/LG (or size required to obtain gauge).
Notions: 1 stitch marker, 8 buttons about ¾” in diameter, needle and thread for sewing on the buttons, about 60” of 1/4” wide ribbon, leather, fabric, or cord for lacing through the eyelets, Fray Check for sealing the ends of the ribbon, a darning needle for weaving in ends.
Gauge
Measure gauge in stockinette stitch.
SM/MD: 21 sts / 4” (suggested needle size US 6)
MD/LG: 19 sts / 4” (suggested needle size US 7)
