Cornerstone Blanket
This blanket began with a single modification of the Mitered Crosses Blanket, which combines mitered center patches with log cabin frames. One modification led to another, until it was no longer possible to tell someone how to make this blanket by referring to the Mitered Crosses Blanket pattern.
Each seamless block starts with 4 miters that are knitted onto each other to form a square. This square is then framed with a mitered square created by picking up stitches all around the outside edge of the center square and worked outward. When this frame is complete, its stitches are kept live on holders or strings, so that blocks can be joined together without sewing, using the 3-needle bind-off method. The blanket is finished with applied i-cord edging that resembles the binding of a quilt.
