Coney Island Shawl
Inspired by 1920s Coney Island and the summery floral dresses that ladies wore while walking along the pier, this lovely triangular wrap will hold cool ocean breezes at bay. Warm yellow solid and striped garter stitch sections provide a subtle color shift to the creamy lace−mesh border.
FINISHED SIZE
56” (142 cm) wide and 24” (61 cm) long.
YARN
DK weight (#3 Light).
Shown here: Wooly Wonka Fibers Freya DK (100% blue−faced Leicester wool; 300 yd 274 m/3½ oz 100 g): Parchment (MC), 2 skeins; Brocade (CC), 1 skein.
NEEDLES
Size U.S. 7 (4.5 mm): 36” (90 cm) circular (cir).
Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
GAUGE
20 sts and 32 rows = 4” (10 cm) in Garter Stripe Pattern, blocked.
ERRATA: Note that on the Border Chart, rows 12, 14 and 20 should have a Knit on WS row stitch just before the P2tog sts. (This will maintain the garter stitch continuity to match all the other WS rows on the chart.)
