Delicate diamonds cascade and multiply along the bottom edge of this asymmetrical shawl. This easy-to-knit project is perfect for that special yarn you’ve been saving!

This shawl is knit from one tip to the opposite edge. The lace diamonds along the bottom edge gradually increase in number as the shawl grows. A zigzag lace edging along the top edge of the shawl adds balance. The shawl is finished with several rows of allover lace that can be pinned out into a scalloped edge.

Two versions of the pattern are available. A deeper version that requires about 500 yds or a slightly longer, narrower version that requires at least 435 yds. Additional decreases in the narrower version create its more elongated shape. Both versions can be adapted to use up all available yarn.

All instructions are both written and charted.

Gauge is not critical for this pattern, but using a different yarn weight or needle size will affect the size of the finished shawl.
