Collections Scarf
The “Collections Scarf” features an Interrupted Garter Stitch pattern throughout. The “v-shape” is created from a combination of increases worked along the edges and decreases worked at the center.
This scarf is all about playing with color and makes for a great stash-busting knit!
The background (main color) can remain consistent throughout or you can opt for a color shift as desired. The pattern sample reflects Spincycle Yarns “Dream State” marled yarn for the background (and as the suggested yarn for the Main Colors). Alternatively, the MC could be worked in a variety of options such as a speckled or variegated yarn. (Note: To achieve a similar finished look, a marled yarn is suggested)
The “Collections Scarf” is a beginner-friendly pattern and boasts a simple 4-row repeat for a stress-free knitting experience. Starting with just a few stitches, it gradually expands to its final width before being worked straight to the end.
Finished Size
Approximately 8.5” / 21 cm wide x 68” / 170 cm length
Note! The scarf takes on a slightly curved shape due to the slip-stitch RS edge and carrying the non-working yarn up the side.
This pattern was designed for Worsted or DK weight yarns; however, it can also be worked in a lighter weight.
Note! If worked in a thinner yarn the needle size may need to be adjusted, as will the required yardage. The finished size of this scarf will change depending on the yarn weight used.
A Color Orientation Guide is provided in the pattern.
Suggested Needles & Notions
Needle size listed is a suggestion; use a size that will result in correct gauge after blocking.
• US 8 / 5 mm, 32” / 80 cm circular needle
• Removeable marker to denote RS of work
• (2) Stitch markers
• Darning needle
• Scissors
• Blocking mat & pins
Gauge Information – Post Blocking
24 sts / 26 rows per 4” / 10 cm worked flat on US 8 / 5 mm needles in “Interrupted Garter Stitch” pattern as detailed below.
The gauge noted takes into account the chevron / bias nature of the pattern as well as the slip-stitch center and edge stitches.
