This cosy ribbed hat is worked in the round from the bottom up and has a beautiful, cabled crown. The crown instructions are both written and charted. The fabric is very stretchy!
Yarn:
To achieve the soft and fuzzy texture, hold together a DK weight soft wool blend yarn with a lace weight mohair/silk yarn.
135 (150, 165) yards / 125 (135, 150) metres of each yarn.
Alternatively, a plump worsted weight yarn can be used.
You’ll need an extra 30 yards of each yarn for a folded brim.
Needles:
US7 / 4.5 mm - 40 cm long circular needle.
US7 / 4.5 mm dpns or 80 cm long circular needle for magic loop method for the crown.
Notions:
5 stitch markers, tapestry needle, cable needle.
Sizing:
Small Child (Older Child, Adult).
To fit head circumference:
18-19.5 (19.5-21, 21-23) inches /
45.5-49.5 (49.5-53.5, 53.5-58.5) cm.
Gauge:
30 sts & 30 rows per 4 inch / 10 cm square in 2 x 2 ribbing (unstretched).
Adjust needle size, if necessary, to get correct gauge.
