Chrysanthemum Circle Bag
The Chrysanthemum Circle Bag is a festive accessory to carry needed goods to a party while fashionably representing your passion for fiber arts. This low yardage knit project can give the opportunity to stash bust, as well as, with Lion Brand’s 24/7 Cotton 43 color options, you’re bound to find fun color combinations to customize to your preference. Basically, this bag is the perfect quick summer project you’ve been looking for.
Pattern is constructed in nine pieces (front & back circles, six petals, and a strap), then, assembled by seaming front & back circles to strap and tacking petals to preferred circle.
Double pointed needles are only used to knit strap.
Circle is technically a hexagon but looks more circle once it’s assembled.
Sample is made with six petals; however, you can choose to make as few/many petals as you want and cinch/layer them to your liking.
Finished Dimensions:
Circle Diameter: 10”
Length: 16”
Opening: 6”
Strap Width: 1.5”
You will need:
- 2 skeins of 24/7 Cotton in “Grass“ or approximately 315 yards of medium weight level 4 yarn
- US 6 (4 mm) 24” long circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge
- US 6 (4 mm) double pointed needles (optional)
- US G6/4 mm crochet hook (optional)
- 1.5” jeweled button (optional)
I provide 3 different gauges for different sections, but gauge is only important if you want the same dimensions as me with same yardage:
18 sts x 30 rounds in stockinette = 4” blocked (for circle)
24 sts x 24 rows in double knitting = 4’ blocked (for strap)
20 sts x 32 rows in stockinette = 4” blocked (for petals)
