We live close to The Rockies. Inclement coastal weather is kept at bay by the mountains; instead warm winds (called Chinooks) pass over the range and sweep down over us, bringing welcome warm temperatures.

When a Chinook occurs, there is a distinct cloud pattern called a Chinook Arch. Temperatures can go up by about 30-40 degrees Celsius within a matter of hours, taking us from blisteringly cold winter to a lovely spring day.

This pattern is only partially written.
