Cherga
March 26, 2015: This is now available as a Ravelry download!
CHERGA is the name of very colorful, striped rugs found in homes all over Bulgaria, where I lived and worked as a Peace Corps Volunteer. With the self-striping yarn, these socks made me feel like I was back in Smolyan on a na gosti spending time with friends and chatting over a cup of coffee or rakiya.
Sock is knit cuff down with a textured chevron pattern made entirely of cables. Afraid of cables? I assure you that you won’t be after knitting these up! The leg can be adjusted to the length you’d like before moving on to a traditional heel flap and turn before continuing the cables down to the toe.
This is also available in the eZine: Addicted to Sock Knitting. I hope you’ll enjoy the eZine as I’m also interviewed in there. (My first interview - my first cover - this is exciting!) THANK YOU!
Pattern was test knit and tech edited prior to publication.
