This may be more of a whimsical knit as I haven’t washed my cloth enough to see how the many tails stay woven in. Being worked in garter stitch, this creates a dense washcloth that may also work well as a pot holder.
Pattern is worked in garter stitch intarsia and depending on which of the 3 charts used, may result in the use of bobbins, and some tails to be woven in. The simple chart could easily be colored in to make an original cassette tape of yore, that you could add words with embroidery.
