Cap Murca Mittens (Captain America tribute)
My absolute favourite thing about Captain America is a trait he shares with Thor: They both have a hard time understanding modern day earth references. Makes me laugh every time!
The Avengers team are talking about Loki’s sceptre:
Steve Rogers: It may be magical, but it works an awful lot like a Hydra weapon.
Nick Fury: I don’t know about that, but it is powered by the cube. And I’d like to know how Loki used it to turn two of the sharpest men I know into his personal flying monkeys.
Thor: Monkeys? I do not understand.
Steve Rogers: I do!
Stark rolls his eyes, while Captain America looks proud of himself
Steve Rogers: I understood that reference.
Fits: Ladies M-L or Men S-M
Measurements: 10 cm/4” x 27 cm/10.6”
Gauge: 35 st x 35 rows = 4” after blocking to above size
Yarn: Filcolana Arwetta Classic in Blue, Red and White. Slightly more than half a skein of each colour.
Needles: 3 mm/US 2.5 circular needle and 2 mm/US 0 DPNs.
Also: Stitch holder/waste yarn, tapestry needle, sewing needle, white sewing thread, white felt and a tiny bit of filling.
I knit my mittens using the magic loop method, but DPNs works as well, or a short circular needle if that is what you prefer. Please make sure not to leave too long floats at the back of your work. I usually twist the yarn every 3 stitches.’
Oh, and if you publish pictures of your mittens on any social platforms it would be really cool if you used the hashtag #CapMurcaMittens. But only if you want to, of course.
