Businesslike, yet casual, this cardigan is constructed partly modularily, beginning with the bottom “rib” worked side to side in garter stitch. Then stitches for the body are picked up along one edge of the band. Cable and bobble panels are worked along each side of the front and at the center back on a ground of reverse stockinette. Shoulders are shaped using short-rows, then joined using Three-Needle Bind-Off. A wide garter stitch collar is added along the front and back neck edges, adding short-rows at the back neck for a fold-back shawl collar.
The sleeves begin by working back and forth, adding a faux placket, then joining to work in the round to the underarm length. A cable and bobble panel is also worked up the center of each sleeve.
Crochet button loops are added at the lower front.
