ca·les·cent –adjective growing warm; increasing in heat.

Just in time for winter! This cowl will keep keep you warm and cozy quickly so that you don’t have to freeze. The Cabled Calescent is an incredibly warm, super quick cowl. Knit with large needles and super bulky yarn, it takes less than 2 hours to make and takes very little yarn. The small size will only take a single skein of the Aspen. The large size will use a small amount of a second.

The smaller size is designed to fit loosely around a child’s neck or snugly around an adult’s neck. The large will fit loosely around an adult’s neck.

This is a great beginner pattern! Whether you’re new to knitting or new to cables, this is an easy, quick pattern that can teach you the basics. It’s also great for more advanced knitters. The cables add interest, and it’s quick enough to keep you from getting bored. Best of all, it’s a fast, instant gratification project that leaves you with a lovely result that’ll keep you warm all winter!

Enjoy!

12/05/11: I just found out that the Aspen yarn has been discontinued. But even if you don’t have that yarn, any super bulky yarn will work for this project. I’m adding Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick as a suggested yarn because it is widely available and will make a very nice, warm cowl.
