1940s cable bolero

The bolero has short sleeves with a contrasting neck band and front edges and rib hems. The main body of the bolero is knit with a cable stitch.

Measurements:
To fit size 32”-34” bust
Length from top of shoulders 18 inches
Sleeve seam 5 inches

Materials:
5ozs Patons Beehive Fingering 3-ply in the main shade and 2ozs in a contrasting or tonal shade of the same wool. A fine 4-ply (a wool mix with one of the finer yarns like cashmere or silk) could be used instead. Check with a tension square and adjust needle size if necessary.
A pair of 2.75mm (No. 12) and 4mm (No. 8) knitting needles
Three buttons

Tension stated in the pattern is 6 stitches to an inch over the cable pattern - suggesting a yarn that is thicker than a modern 3-ply. The 4mm needle size also suggests it may suit a 4-ply weight wool rather than a 3-ply.
