Busy Bobbly Beanie
Half double crochet worked in the back bar creates a super-smooth fabric that contrasts with the lines of playful bobbles on this slouchy hat. For a subtler look, use a solid-color yarn and let the texture be the star of the show.
FINISHED SIZE 16¼ (17¼ , 18, 18¾ , 19½ , 20½ )“ circumference at ribbed edge, 18¼ (19, 20, 21, 21¾ , 22¾ )” body circumference, and 8½ (9½ , 9½ , 9½ , 10¾ , 10¾ )“ tall. Hat shown measures 18” at edge.
YARN Berroco Cosma (60% baby alpaca, 30% wool, 10% silk; 164 yd 150 m/1¾ oz 50 g; ): #2442 serenity (MC), 2 (2, 2, 2, 2, 3) skeins; #2420 hibiscus (CC), 1 skein.
HOOK Sizes D/3 (3.25 mm) and C/2 (2.75 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
NOTIONS St marker (m); yarn needle; cardboard measuring 3½ wide and 5–6” long (to make pom-pom).
GAUGE 22½ sts and 20 rnds = 4” worked in the rnd in hdcbb.
